Saturday, November 25, 2006     Happy wedding anniversary to my Mom and Dad!    Fresh Jumbo Ocean Shrimp, Heads Off, $10.89 per pound and it is well worth it. 16 - 20 count per pound. Fishermen are shocked when we tell them price. When they see them, most say, "Man! They are pretty, let me have a pound."     Sky's are clear and winds or not too cold. Saturday, November 18, 2006     10:00 am  Fish run is still going on here in Kure Beach. Black Drums, VA Mullets, Spots and large Blues are making several folk's catch. Friday, November 17, 2006     6:30 pm     Fishermen are coming back to get our Salt Mullets. Big Bluefish have been caught all day. One fellow just came in reporting a large 20 inch Blue was hauled in north of Kure Pier. Around 4 pm, two fishermen showed us their catch of Spots, Virginia Mullets and a fine catch of Black Drums. All they need is a cleaning table, seasoning, kitchen, cold tea, forks and plates!       7:00am  No fishing reports over the past 3 days. Rains showers have fallen off and on. Yesterday's tornados were approximately 45 miles west-northwest of us. We are sadden by the loss of life. At 7:00 am, the sky is clear overhead. Stay tuned! Gasoline news:  $2.17- 2.29  for regular. Tuesday, November 14, 2006 Noon    Crowds of fishermen have dissipated. Locals are catching Flounders in river and ocean. Mullet Minnows are running strong in the surf. Rains fell this past Sunday. Saturday, November 11, 2006    Noon     Not many folks down this weekend. Those here, are wearing short paints. Several yard sales are going on all over town. This morning the Cape Fear River was smooth as a Mill Pond. Mosquitoes, sand gnats and flies were all up and down the bank's of the river. Flounder Fishermen were hoping to catch the big ones they missed last weekend. Several were caught according to one person there. Spots and Virginia Mullets are the reported catch here in our shop. Friday, November 10, 2006    Noon     A good crowed of folks are on the Kure Beach Fishing Pier. The surf along the beach in front of the Blue Marlin Apartments has folks packed in sets of 3 to 7 fishermen. Monday - Tuesday, November 7, 2006   2:00pm  Election day! Go Vote! You owe it to your self!     Well folks, yesterday I let three of our good fishermen down! (not that I we have any bad fishermen)  I sent them to an old fishing site along Snows Cut.  They got hung up most to the day. Small Flounder were there as a tease.  So were underwater snags.  No fun at all. Something had to have washed in since last week.     Last night we rode down to the Fort Fisher Boat Landing. Beautiful sky with a big moon in it. A cute Fox was checking around for food. Lots of deer feeding on the DOT right-of-way.   Today, heavy rains have set in. Hardly anyone has stopped by. Saturday, November 4, 2006    6:00 pm    Well our fishing families packed up this morning, wished us a good farewell and a pleasant winter. "One good week of fishing beats one good week of work." Time out is good for all. Large Virginia Mullets have been the fish reported today. Get this, Bloodworms were the favorite VA Mullet bait for two fishermen. You're not going to believe what we are now restocking in our bait line. Popeye minnows. It's been more than 30 months since we've been able to stock this favorite bait.     Full moon tonight. Go outside and take a look for your self! [These two __________ fans went into a bar. After 6 drinks, one __________ fan asked to the other, "I wonder which is further away from us, the moon or Florida?" Friday, November 3, 2006    3:00 pm Cool northeast wind has been blowing all day. Our family of fishermen, with Granddaddy showing the way to fish, has caught several Puppy and Red Drums. Shrimp and Cut Bait has done well for these guys. Other fishermen are coming in for Sand Flees and Shrimp for the large Virginia Mullets that are now swimming by. The end of Kure Pier is the place for these 18 inch and larger VA mullets. Many folks are now showing up today. Being in the middle of Pleasure Island, all our reports are coming from the Blue Marlin Apartments and Kure Beach Fishing Pier. Stay tuned!  Gasoline news:  $2.07- 2.26  for regular. Thursday, November 2, 2006    10:30 pm Grand-pa needs help! "All the youngsters are catching Spots.  So many, I cannot get my own hooks in the waters! Them younguns drafted me as the 'get-the-fish-off the hooks' & 're-bait -the tackle Grand-pa man!"     Yes! Today there was lots of action in the surf in front of the Blue Marlin Apartments.     Carolina Inlet filled 5 cooler loads of Spots, Flounders, Virginia Mullets and Black Drum today. Wednesday, November 1, 2006    10:00 pm    Big day for catching Big Fish! Two Puppy Drums were caught today in front of the Blue Marlin Apartments, followed by a 17 inch Speckled Trout. Down at the Fort Fisher Boat Landing, several 20 plus inch Speckled Trout back bones showed were someone had cleaned their catch. Temperature picked back up into the upper 70's and the winds were still coming out of the south. We are hoping for a high pressure to pass over Ohio soon.
